The Pea Patch Community Campus.
A permanent home for the Food Bank, built alongside 20 affordable homes, with OPAL Community Land Trust and the Orcas Island Community Foundation.

From any space we can find, to a home of our own.
Since the pandemic the Food Bank has worked from whatever space it could get its hands on. A permanent, centralized building will let us proactively meet the island’s growing need.
- A new, permanent Food Bank with greater capacity
- 20 long-term townhome rentals with supportive services
- A commercial kitchen and repack room
- Green spaces, community paths and a regenerative food garden
Site work on the campus
Local contractor Island Ex has been putting in utility connections, stormwater retention and the new entry road at 55 Pea Patch Lane. Townhome construction was set to begin in September, work on the new Food Bank building is expected to begin in the spring, and the campus is projected to be complete by the end of 2028.
A Request for Qualifications for new construction general contractors is posted on the Food Bank site.

Close the gap
Nearly $33 million of the $40 million budget is secured, mostly from public sources, with private foundations and individual gifts making up the rest.
